Hi there and welcome to my portfolio! I am the Assistant Director of Undergraduate Research and Inquiry at Rice University. Prior to my position at Rice, I was an Assistant Professor of English at Belmont University, where I taught rhetoric and writing courses at graduate and undergraduate levels. I earned a PhD in English with a specialization in rhetoric and composition from the University of Maryland. I study women’s and feminist rhetorics with an emphasis on the rhetorical power of appearance; my dissertation is titled “The Rhetorical Power of Appearance: An Archival Study of Beauty Ideals.” I have publications featured in Composition Studies and Computers and Composition.
I have experience teaching and administrating rhetoric and composition courses. I’ve served as an Assistant Director of the Academic Writing Program at UMD, and I’ve taught a variety of courses including English 6300: Archiving Women Writers, English 282: How Rhetoric Works, and English 294: Persuasion and Cleverness in Social Media. I earned my MA in English with a rhetoric and composition specialization from Texas Christian University in 2019; I earned my BA in Professional Writing from Baylor University in 2017.
This portfolio showcases my ongoing research projects, pedagogy materials, statements and philosophies, and CV. When I’m not researching, writing, and teaching, I’m an avid baker and reader. I find peace and joy in finicky bakes - such as macarons and puff pastry creations. I enjoy cooking, running, and spending time with my friends and family. When I’m not reading for work, I enjoy a good fantasy romance novel.
